Family Visit

A couple of weeks ago, my sister and her family visited from Spartanburg, SC. My dad also flew in from Salt Lake City to come visit us during my niece and nephews spring break. It had been a long time since my sister and dad had been to Vegas, so there was definitely enough to see and do. That is one good thing about Vegas, when people come to visit there is always something to do!! My family flew in Friday, and after a long plane delay in Dallas, getting a rental car and meeting up to follow me to our house everybody was tired and no one was begging to visit the strip. We had a great time eating at one of our favorite places to eat (Buffalo Wild Wings) and catching up!!
On Saturday our first stop was Bass Pro and In and Out Burger!! Everyone has their own preferences!! =D Everyone did a little shopping and enjoyed a great lunch. It was then off to KyLee's mandatory dance practice. I felt awful that they had all traveled this far and had to spend their vacation watching a bunch of girls dance for two hours. But it was fun that they got to see KyLee's competition dance routines and KyLee was really excited to have an audience full of family!! That night we attended a school choir concert at UNLV that KyLee was part of as an alternate. She didn't have to perform, but was happy to be there with all of her family. KyLee mentioned after everyone had left how happy she was that her family who lives so far away was able to see what she does here in Vegas. On Sunday we had plans to visit the strip, but Sawyer came down with a mild fever. So while Sawyer slept we sat around visited and watched the NASCAR race. When Sawyer had woken up her fever had broken (this always happens when she is breaking teeth) so we were able to at least go to South Point Casino to walk around and let the kids play in the arcade. On Monday the fam (after having to live two days in our world) got to set out on their own and vacation on the strip. While Cody and I were working, they all went to the Hoover Dam and we then met up with them and went and toured the first half of the strip. I have not spent that much time on the strip since moving here, and I realized there is no way you can see all that you want to see in one day. It was good they decided to break it up into days. On Tuesday, I got off work, the kids and I meet up with them and went and walked more of the strip. On Wednesday we decided to get away from the strip a little bit, so me and the girls took them out to Bonnie Springs. Bonnie Springs is a little dude ranch just outside of Vegas. We watched the Melodrama and the hanging. We walked around and looked in the little shops and then we were off again to Bingo Night sponsored by the PTA at KyLee's school. My intent with Bingo night was that I would go in, make my announcements I needed to do for the PTA and then leave and go do something else with the family. But, once all the kids realized that it was Bingo Night and they could win prizes, they all wanted to stay. I also think the free pizza and drinks were a seller as well. My kids, who can never win a thing, tried and tried to win. Joey on the other hand always seemed to be one number off, and could never win. The bigger winner of the night was Ashley. She won a croquet set during a black out game, that for some reason never made it on the plane when they left!! =D I think Sawyer took this over and wasn't going to let Ashley leave with it. What a trooper my niece is. On Thursday we headed off the strip to Hardrock and Hooters. After I had to get KyLee from school so we met up with them again at the Stratosphere. Grandpa Randy took all the kids (with the exception of Sawyer) to the top and they had a great time!! KyLee thought it was awesome. On Friday I checked KyLee out early and Cody had the day off and so we decided to make it a kids day. We took the kids to Adventure Dome in Circus-Circus and spent 7 hours letting them play and run around. They had a great time and enjoyed all the rides. Gotta luv the all day pass! We took a break and went and grabbed lunch and then headed upstairs in Circus-Circus to let them play the games. My niece Ashley, what a natural when it came to winning at these games. She couldn't loose!! Macahan (seriously) had to buy another duffel bag to hall all her winnings back home. Friday night we left Circus-Circus and headed to Bass Pro to watch the Mermaid show and then to enjoy the seafood buffet. Cody and I are not big fans of the buffets here in Vegas. All the food taste the same. But, you can't come to Vegas and not eat at a buffet, so we took them to the best buffet place that we have found. On Saturday, they were off early to get to their airport. Hugs, kisses, and tears all came with our goodbyes!! We had such a wonderful time and miss them tons!!
